Wolfgang Kessler - Malerei im Dialog mit der Fotografie
(Painting and photography in dialog)

Exhibition dates:
September 19 through November 9, 2001

Address:
Hellabrunner Strasse 1
81543 Munich, Germany

The first Osram Haus exhibition is dedicated to a dialog between painting and photography - a theme as timely now as it was in the 19th century.

As a student, Wolfgang Kessler (born 1962 in Hannover) made a name for himself while studying painting under Munich rector Ben Willikens. In his current work, Kessler deals with the transitory aesthetics of photographic images and translates them into an unmistakable style of painting.

Kessler's captivating images resemble photographs taken from a moving train. The artist makes use of motifs that include urban perimeters, parking lots, and service stations. All are faceless places, with a fascinating mixture of attraction and antipathy.
